When it comes to scholarships, everyone wants to know how many they can “actually win”.

But is this really the right question to ask? In my opinion, no.

Instead of wondering how many scholarships you can win, ask yourself if your current scholarship strategy matches the cost of the university you or your student plans on attending.

Assess your scholarship strategy by answering these questions:

  • How many scholarships are you or your student applying for per week? Per month?
  • What is the average scholarship award amount of the scholarships you apply for?
  • How many individuals are helping you or your student with the process?
  • What challenges do you or your student currently face in the process? (Time Management, Writing Essays, Finding Scholarships, etc.)

Focusing on these four questions will help you quickly and easily determine if your family has the proper strategy in place. And remember: Proper planning prevents poor performance!

Add these upcoming opportunities to your scholarship strategy:

  1. Dogsora Scholarship: This scholarship application asks you to share about your love of dogs! However, you must be a current college student to apply.
    Award: $500
    Deadline: September 28, 2017
  2. Catherine W. Pierce Scholarship: Catherine W. Pierce scholarship was established to support students who are majoring in disciplines within the Arts. Mrs. Pierce had a great interest in helping deserving students pursue the fields of Art or Art History. To apply, students must be currently in college.
    Award: $5,000
    Deadline: September 29, 2017
  3. Dolman Law Group $1,100 College: Eligible applicants must be high school seniors or current college students. The application consists of creating a YouTube video discussing pedestrian fatalities.
    Award: $1,100
    Deadline: September 29, 2017
  4. AfterCollege/AACN $10,000 Scholarship Fund: The AfterCollege-AACN Scholarship Fund supports students who are seeking a baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral degree in nursing. Only finalists are contacted and may be asked to submit additional letters of recommendation, published articles, awards/honors, etc.
    Deadline: September 30, 2017
