CONGRATS! Your hard work in getting the word out about the Oct FAFSA start date is paying off.
As of October 21, week four in the 2017/18 cycle, 3,923 (14%) Dallas County seniors have completed theirFAFSA. For comparison, in week four last year only 1,500 seniors had completed their applications. Our collective goal is for 48% of Dallas County seniors to complete the FAFSA by July 1, 2017.

Shout Outs
  • Nearly all districts have more completions in week four this year than you did in week for last year. Don’t lose momentum!
  • DeSoto ISD and Uplift Charter Network have the highest year over year increase in their completion rates!
  • 25 Campuses had at least a 5% point increase in FAFSA completions from 10/14 to 10/21. See attached presentation for list. If this is you, keep track of what you did to achieve your results!
  • At 26 campuses, at least a quarter of seniors have completed their FAFSA application. See attached presentation for list. Again if this is you, keep track of what you did to achieve your results!
Financial Aid Announcements
  • November is the statewide ApplyTX / Financial Aid completion month. Be sure to share your planned activities on the GenTX Month Challenge survey so we can help you promote!
  • Don’t start from scratch! Check and for ready-made resources to help you put on an event, use student ambassadors, and more. Email or call me before starting any projects in case I have something you can edit to make your own!
  • Nov 2 (2-3:15pm) Advising DREAMers Webinar. Esther Rodriguez and RGV Focus partners will present resources to support Texas DREAMers and information on counseling undocumented students through the college application and financial aid processes.
